| UMC Singapore was established as Singapore’s
first 300mm fab. This new-generation 300mm facility is equipped
with the industry’s most state-of-the-art automation
and production equipment, making it one of the world’s
most technologically advanced fabs.

| In addition, the project is the largest
capital investment in the history of Singapore’s semiconductor
industry. The facility will employ close to 1,800 people,
90% of whom will be professionals and technicians.

technology aims to achieve three critical features of
manufacturing: lower cost, higher yield, and better
cycle-times. Our commitment to be the leader in manufacturing

| Now supported under EDB’s
RISC scheme, the advanced facility is now pushing towards
90nm volume production on 300mm manufacturing technology,
while research & development for the 65nm process
generation is well underway.
